The business community in Glasgow is diversifying and while the traditional industries are seeing a resurgence this is being paralleled by significant growth in new sectors such as finance and the service industry.
The work of organisations such as the Employer Coalitions is vital at
this time of growth to ensure that access to these opportunities and the
collective wealth that they bring, both in financial and social terms,
is open to all groups. Working both operationally through our project work
and strategically through the City strategy and links to WVUK we can use
our all too important employer influence to bring people currently out
of the labour market back in.

Scottish Water provides a vital public service for our customers and is essential to the health of the nation.
We provide high quality drinking water to 2.4 million homes across Scotland which is delivered via a network of more than 29,000 miles of pipes that stretch across an area a third of the size of the UK.
Every day we supply 864 million litres of treated drinking water to our customers and take away the waste water, which we treat before returning it safely to the environment.
Scottish Water is determined to deliver best value for money for our customers. We are investing in the future of Scotland’s infrastructure by transforming the water network to world class standards.
Millions of people are already turning on their taps to clearer fresher drinking water, whilst Scotland’s beaches and rivers are cleaner than ever before.
At the same time we are investing in our assets to provide more capacity to help Scotland’s communities grow and develop.
We are delivering one of the largest investment programmes, per connected property, in Britain during 2006-2010, and this at a time when average household charges are lower than seven of the water companies in England and Wales.
We continue to remain focussed to delivering increased value for money for our customers.
